Elizabeth Goranson, M.S.Ed, Founder, Stretch What Matters™
Elizabeth holds a Masters degree in Special Education from Simmons College in Boston, MA. She is a certified yoga teacher through Karma Kids Yoga and she completed the Integrated Movement Therapy training (IMT), Level 1, for children with special needs, at Kripalu in Stockbridge, MA and the Rhythmic Movement Training (RMT) Level 1 (RMT and ADD/ADHD) and Level 2 (RMT, Emotions and Inner Leadership).
Over the past twelve years, Elizabeth has worked as a Special Educator in a variety of inclusion settings. One of her life’s passions is facilitating people’s growth towards independence.
Elizabeth’s work is featured in Voice Colors – Billy’s Story, a documentary film about a young man’s journey to becoming an independent communicator. The piece showcases Elizabeth’s contributions to a team-developed educational program for Billy Megargel, as he faces the challenges inherent with social interaction while being on the autism spectrum.
Known for her humor, enthusiasm and passion for her work, Elizabeth leads captivating workshops for school systems on implementing yoga in the classroom. Her primary focus is teaching educators and parents to use yoga as a vehicle for teaching body and mind awareness, self-regulation skills, and social thinking skills.
The company’s patent-pending visual yoga system is a critical success factor for Stretch What Matters™ program participants. Elizabeth’s yoga system adds value to the lives of individuals aiming to positively enhance their physical and mental health – a dream come true for Elizabeth.
