Special Needs - Private and Semi-Private Yoga Sessions
Who is this yoga program designed for?
Stretch What Matters™, LLC provides integrated yoga programs designed for individuals with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and learning disabilities, ages 6 and older.
What will a private yoga session look like?
Each session is highly individualized to meet the needs of the student(s). Sessions vary in length (30 or 60-minutes) and entail movement, breathing exercises and meditation techniques to bring participants to an awareness of what is happening in their bodies and minds, and to provide them with tools they can use to regulate themselves.
How do I get started?
All new students participate in an initial intake session. The intake session is an opportunity for the student to feel what a yoga class is like and for the instructor to informally assess the individual. Parent(s) are asked to observe the initial intake and ask questions as they arise. Parent(s) are also asked to fill out a questionnaire about their child's current performance levels and past history during the time of the intake. The questionnaire will be used to help shape the individual's yoga plan.
Following the intake session, students are recommended for either a dyad, a triad or individual sessions, depending on the individual's needs and available openings.
Progress Reports:
An individualized yoga program based on the participant's physical, mental and social development is created. Following every twelfth yoga class, a summary of progress towards the individualized goals is written.
